ASUI Recognition Monument
In recognition of Associated Students University of Idaho (ASUI)’s enduring legacy of support for the Dome and many other vital campus resources, the university is commissioning a monument to be located near the P1FCU Kibbie Dome. This permanent monument will stand tall in recognition of ASUI’s contributions to student life and the vibrant Vandal community we’ve built together.
Background & 历史
In 2023, the ASUI Kibbie Activity Center was renamed to the P1FCU Kibbie Dome in honor of a 10-year naming partnership with P1FCU, whose sponsorship continues to elevate this iconic and beloved facility. The sponsorship also provides a variety of financial literacy programs for the benefit of our students.
The ASUI recognition monument is intended to represent the unwavering commitment of the student body in providing critical resources through self-imposed fees, 从而确保过去, current and future Vandals have a place to gather and celebrate all that is University of Idaho.
ASUI Recognition Monument Creative Committee
To ensure the monument embodies the spirit and values of ASUI, a creative committee comprising both past and current ASUI leaders will spearhead the design process. Drawing on their collective experience and insights, the committee will work diligently to conceptualize and execute a fitting tribute.
During the brainstorming efforts, the creative committee couldn’t think of anything more iconic and recognizable than the university’s mascot: 乔汪达尔人. He is intimidating yet loveable, a ruthless fighter but an everyday guy. 乔汪达尔人 has key recognizable features including his goatee, 胡子, muscles and winged helmet and is always a welcome visitor to every event. A bronze monument will ensure his iconic image is present in the landscape no matter the season and become a legacy moment for future and current Vandals at the university’s most visited facility, 圆顶本身.
征集艺术家
We are excited to invite artists to submit their proposals for this monumental project. The process will be managed through CallforEntry.org, a platform dedicated to providing opportunities for artists in public art projects.
申请步骤
- 注册: Create an artist profile on CallforEntry.org
- 提交建议: Access the University of Idaho 乔汪达尔人 Sculpture call for entries and submit your proposal, 包括:
- Concept sketches or renderings.
- Description of the design concept.
- Materials and construction methods.
- 时间表和预算.
- 点评: Proposals will be reviewed by the ASUI monument creative committee.
- 最后的选择: Shortlisted artists will be invited to present their proposals in person or via a virtual meeting. The selected artist will be notified and will enter into a formal agreement with the university.
Deadline for submissions is Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024.
